FLEETS
The SMMC sails on separate Saturdays the following classes: check the club Calendar International One Meter (IOM British Class) We have a Scratch racing Fleet and an IOM Handicap Fleet. The IOM is one of the most popular of the International Racing Classes of Radio Controlled Yacht. From a standard class different boat designs compete with same sail areas and hull restrictions albeit different designs. Interclub regattas are also hold SMMC hold one each year. Soling One Metre (US Fleet Class) This a low cost, one design US RC yacht kit that has been sailing for years, its a very pleasant boat to sail, durable and a strong competitor in the General Handicap event too. There are some great traveller events in NSW to go to, Lake Tabourie, Lake Macquarie. We hold a regatta for these including the new JLS that sail with these. State Titles in 2018. Matt Henery of SMMC is NSW State Champion 2018. Dragon Force - DF65 This Dragon Force 65 Class is a very low cost entry class fleet for most new members wishing to buy a mini racing yacht for the first time and learn the ropes! Starting in 2015 has quickly grown into a large fleet and ideal for new members and has now been recognised by NSW. Fastest growing in the world. Interclub regatta's being created for first time in 2018. A plus sails introduced in 2019, our DF65 details on the website are now comprehensive best in class. Travellers Series and NSW state Titles are also open to members. Dragonflite 950 - DF95 This DragonFlite DF95 Class is fully up and running and very vibrant a very good upgrade from the DF65 yacht design. We have sufficient numbers in 2022 for both handicap and scratch series and is seeing rapid growth overtaking numbers in the DF65. General Handicap Class This is for yachts under 1m (is the maximum length of a vessel's hull measured parallel to the waterline) of all shapes and sizes ideal for small retail yachts, and all classes under 1m. Very few clubs offer this type of racing which is ideal for any members and the most experienced who want to try designs not raced in NSW classes. It is well known for its friendly wicked banter and large fleets. Learn the ropes here and ask questions. Vintage Ships, Vintage Tall Ships and Classic Sailing Craft We have some of these beautiful craft hidden with our members and we are seeking to get a day to celebrate these in our calendar so please contact us if you have a RC craft in this class and would like to sail it, tugs and rescue craft welcome. |
